The Pomnik Powstania Warszskiego or otherwise known as The Warsaw Uprising Monument is a tremendous piece of artwork/sculpture - possibly my favourite of all in the city of Warsaw. Warsaw was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War and on August 1st, 1944 the people of Warsaw fought back with everything they had. Unfortunately, they were ill equipped, the German army was much stronger and the help of the Russians never materialised even though they were only on the other side of the River Vistula.This battle went on for 63 days and in the end over 20,000 Polish people died.
