Patchings Farm Art Centre ... be ordered until the end of the month. ~Framing Centre~ A place where they frame pictures. Most frames are made to order, but there are a few standard-sized photo frames. If you have a picture you want framing, it’s a very good place to go since they have wide range of wood and mountcard. The staff can recommend materials to go with a painting and are happy to discuss the available options. George Square (Glasgow) ... In the centre of the square, stands a column reminiscent of Nelsons in Trafalgar Square however Sir Walter Scott stands proudly at the top of Glasgow’s version. It is interesting to note that the very person whom the square was named after is conspicuous by his absence because at the time, the Tobacco Barons were very put out by King George III decision to transfer the major trade in tobacco from Glasgow to the American colonies so refused to fund any of the project if a statue of him was erected! Durham Cathedral ... you can see straight down the centre aisle to the High Altar and the Neville Screen. ~The Neville Screen~ This exquisite gothic screen was built in the fourteenth century by The Neville Family. It was adorned with over a hundred statues said to be removed before they could be destroyed during the reformation.
