      Very helpful

The Angel Row Gallery is one of Nottingham’s hidden treasures. It is actually situated within the main city centre library, but it is extremely easy to miss. The gallery is on the first floor of the library and the entrance is through one very inconspicuous door. (Although there are plenty of signs to find your way there.) Once in the gallery it is a little world of its own, normally with four or five independent exhibitions. Most of the exhibitions are normally contemporary and are normally on display for about two months. The exhibitions include painting, photography, video, sculpture and models, plus a few very unusual displays on some occasions. Some of the exhibitions that I have seen there have included: "The Chill Out Room". Children from the Saturday Art Club designed a room full of colours and fabrics to make you feel welcomed and relaxed. There just seemed so much to look in here. I just felt if I had a large house then I would love to have a room like this. "Artworld". This was a large minature landscape laid out on the floor of the gallery. It included a wind farm (worked by a large electric fan). Model trains moving around the layout, and a whole collection of colours and materials giving great depth to this work. The title came from the fact that a lot of the materials used were artists materials such as brushes, paint tubes and paint tins. The exhibitions vary so much that you are never sure what will be there on your next visit, but it will definately be worth seeing. Entrance to the gallery is free and it is open Monday – Saturday 10.00am to 5.00pm, except when exhibitions are being set up. There is a free leaflet published by Nottingham City Council listing the events in the gallery and there is also a mailing list you can join to be informed of forthcoming events. As well as the exhibitions there are also workshops, courses and events held in the gallery
at regular intervals. If you enjoy looking at unusual art exhibitions and you are in the city of Nottingham then it is well worth wandering up to this gallery. It is about two minutes walk from the Old Market Square in the centre of the city.
