Its behind you, oh no it isnt oh yes it is, its panto time.
Many thanks to the Royal Latin school who fund raised And treated us all in the school I work at to see Snow white at the Aylesbury civic centre.

One morning last week we prepared ourselves and our children to go to the panto, A few sweets in the pocket and some wipes. Spare nappy pads (just in case) a favourite toy or twiddler (those of you working with young children or in special needs will know what I mean). The coach arrived with some pupils from the royal Latin school that were going to accompany us We all got on for the short drive to the civic centre. The bus unloaded we entered the building and were shown the seats saved for us after working out the best positions for pupils (you know nearest the exit or not next to little jonnie). We settled down we were positioned at the front stage right. My position not too good as I was right on the end some view blocked.

The panto this year is Snow White with Sue Holderness as the wicked Queen, Richard Raynard and Jez Edwards, Peter John, Richard Carr, Collette Fraser, Gavin Gascoine, Robert Nicholson, Isi Nimmo and the Star puppets.

The cast looked very traditional, as you would expect these panto characters to look. The story followed the traditional story line.
I must admit although not a great lover of panto entertainment I did quite enjoy this panto as did the children I was with they seemed to be watching most of the time smiling and enjoying the songs. The panto was in two halfs and one or two of the younger children found it a little long it lasted about 2 ½ hrs but considering most of my children have a concentration span of only 3 or 4 minutes it was good that it did hold their attention. The colours lights and movement was at a level they could enjoy. I think children up to the age of 12 would enjoy this panto when they start to get too critical and want more than the entertainment a panto can give. Older children might enjoy it but they probably would not tell their friends.
The acting was quite good. Muddles Jez Edwards was good encouraged a little interaction from the children.
The Dwarfs were children (or at least I think they were) dressed up and with large costume heads. The dwarfs walked up steps onto the stage from a door near where I was sitting and the little girl I was with was spellbound.

If you wish to see this show it is Showing till 3rd Jan box office number 01296 486009 sorry I do not know the price as I can not find the info the civic centre web site does not seem to have it but I seem to think the tickets were between 5 and 10 pounds we did not buy them so I do not know.
. After the show we went back to school for lunch and then Santa came to visit with gifts also arranged by the royal Latin school. Many thanks to the Royal Latin School for fundraising and treating us.
Enjoy your panto if you are seeing one this season. Happy new year Mary
