If you are looking for a fun day out for all the family you must try a trip to the Standedge Visitor Centre on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Marsden. (All details at the bottom of my op). I went with my parents and two young nephews on the Saturday of the last Bank Holiday and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our (albeit short) time there. At three and a quarter miles long, Standedge Tunnel is the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in Britain. To reach the tunnel and Visitor Centre you walk along the canal towpath (although canal taxis do operate during peak periods).
