Advantages: Awwww!

Disadvantages: You can't take them home

Situated near one of the scummiest beaches in Lincolnshire, no wonder these seals need a sanctuary. Looking part fish, part mammal, these sad-eyed creatures are more than mere whale-food, and they are brought here to convalesce after being picked up along the coast. The first thing to greet you as you enter is the vetinary centre with a small pool, home to a couple of ailing seal pups.

The animal gardens aren't just about seals, however. At one time this was just a zoo. It has rebranded itself as a rescue centre and placed a lot more emphasis on providing vetinary care. But it has kept some of the style of a zoo, with animals and birds on display.

Summary: The animal gardens aren't just about seals

Mablethorpe, it really is a filthy beach and the town doesn't have much interesting either, great review though, I might visit the Seal Sanctuary

Ah yes, Mablethorpe, seen of many a school trip of my youth, lol, and the beach is awful. I've never been to this sanctury, though, and it does sound as if it is worth the trip.

Regarding the birds of prey, you may be relieved to hear that they don't actually need much space, as long as they are exercised at some point. I remember being horrified at seeing falcons tied up to tiny podiums at The Royal Armoury in Leeds. But, the member of falcon staff there told me that they only fly in the wild to catch food and once they have eaten they just sit about and roost, so basically they only move if they are hungry. It does look bad, though, you're right.

Ooh, my kids like the seal sanctuary in Cornwall, and the little zoo in Newquay there which has a hospital for hedgehogs/terrapins and suchlike. If we're ever nearby this sounds like one for them.

Nice review, thanks. :)
