Market Harborough, a town with history. There are loads of things to see and do in Market Harborough even though it is still an old fashioned market town. The most impressive is the Old Grammar School which stands proudly in the centre of the town on wooden stilts. There is a free to visit museum which has displays pertaining to Harboroughs history and pays much attention to the shoemaking/corsetry businness which use to thrive in the town.

If you are visiting with children, Welland Park is a must. It has a river running through it (with some tricky stepping stones), tennis courts, crazy golf (though not very crazy addmitedly), A cafe, A duckpond and lots of play equipment. Another great place to go with kids is The Playbarn, which is just on the outskirts of town, this is a 3 storey indoor soft play centre which is kept very clean, serves hot and cold drinks, has very friendly staff and even has an outdoor area to sit when it's sunny witha bouncy castle. Oh and it's attached to a pub/restaurant so you can enjoy yourselves as well as the children!

Just outside of the town is the village of Naseby, famous for the battle of Naseby and there is a monument and visitor information available there. The other side of Market Harborough you will find Foxton Locks, the only uphill set of of locks in the country. This makes a great day out, you can take a trip along the canal on a barge, have a meal at the pub, or ice cream from the shop and visit the inclined plane museum, where they are currently raising funds to restore the inclined plane (A hill that barges used to be pulled up by a series of cables).

Market Harborough has regular markets in the market hall (Tuesday, Friday Saturday) A farmers Market 2nd week of every month and a european market once every 2 months.

In summary Market Harborough has plenty to offer for a weekend break, and you can stay in one of the coaching inns that are very old and haunted.
