Newest Review: ... jewellry and coffee. Other stores include Rutherfords, an upmarket clothing and household goods store. Applebys is a fantastic local bookstore which has so many different books that you could spend hours going through the shelves! Helpful staff and a children's entertainment area also make it a lovely place to visit. There is currently a make-over of an indoor arcade shopping area underway. Shops that will soon be moving to town include Laura Ashley and The Body Shop. Many stores were affected by the flooding of the River Wansbeck in late 2008 and are yet to re-open. Morpeth is a market town in central Northumberland, England. It is located approximately 17 miles north (half an hours drive away) of the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Entry routes are by road - the A1 intersects the town. There is also a railway station in Morpeth - the line is the main London-Edinburgh route but not all trains will stop in Morpeth so check before booking/boarding. I live in Bedlington which is a couple of miles away from Morpeth and I have spent my whole life visiting Morpeth and the surrounding areas. Bodnant Gardens (Nr Colwyn Bay, Wales) - Good variety of plant and tree species. Nice place for a walk. Slightly expensive for a larger family. Very hilly for the less mobile.
Rudyard Lake (Staffordshire) - wholesome British day out none... unless it rains.... much more pleasant on a summers day
