Benone Strand

A beautiful beach in Co. Derry, one of the nicest beaches in Northern Ireland. The beach covers about 11km stretching from Magilligan Point to Downhill. The beach was awarded the European blue flag and holds various designations such as being an area of special scientific interest and as a nature reserve. It is a very beautiful place, the sand is golden, the sea cold (usually) but the views across to Co. Donegal are perfect. I decided to caravan with my family last year at the Benone site run by Limavady Borough Council. It cost approximately £14.50 per night for electric hook-up and had several facilities such as an outdoor heated pool for the kids, tennis courts a great beach and a nine hole golf course. I was told it was a good site but i had several problems. At night on a couple of occasions a number of youths would regulary run through banging caravans and creating a disturbance. Some of the caravan owners got together to tackle them as it became such a regular occurance!
