Advantages: Based in great town
Disadvantages: Overpriced - No Photography
Cars of the Stars is as its name suggests a museum based around famous cars from both television series and movies.
It is in Keswick in the Lake District and is easy to get to, local parking is good but get into the town early especially at peak periods to find parking. The town of Keswick is well worth a visit in itself, and you would not expect to find such a musuem here.
The cars here include,
Robin Reliant - Only Fools and Horses
Ford Anglia - Harry Potter
KITT - Knightrider
Rolls Royce (FAB1) - Thunderbirds
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Dolorian - Back to the Future
The A-Team Van
These are not all of the cars present when we visited i'm sure i've not missed many.
Having paid £5 each for two adults to gain entry (i believe children were £3) and then seeing that there were far less cars here than we initially thought from the advertising we'd seen. It literally took us around 30min to look round the actual museum properly. Coupled with this no photography is allowed which left us feeling the £10 could maybe have been better spent elsewhere.
Having said this it is well worth a look round here despite the above especially if you like your cars or just intersted in seeing some tv history for yourself.
The gift shop here is unique and took us nearly as long to look round as the museum. It is mostly full of signed photographs. Many of these are of the Stars with their Cars, some even on the premises itself. Prices start at around £40 for these and go far higher than the average tourist would want to spend.
However everybody that buys an autographed photograph is entitled to sit in a famous car of their choice, and i would hope they would let you take a picture.
Overall not 100% satisfied from my visit here but well worth a look just don't expect something huge.
Summary: Not what i was expecting.

- 15/11/09 I went here when I was young. My parents must have been fairly canny though as they just sent me and my brother in. We weren't in there long so they were right to save themselves the money! |

- 24/08/09 I liked this but agree - too expensive and why no photographs??? The James Bond museum is better and is new! |
