Advantages: An educational attraction, free entrance

Disadvantages: none

Living in the port town of Dover and just on the outskirts of the town is the village of River. Here you will find the Crabble Corn Mill.

The Mill.
The structure we see today visiting was constructed in 1812 along side an existing mill which was later demolished.
Its said that there has always been a mill on this site since early records state that in 1227 Henry III granted a charter to the nearby abbey.

Cost.
Admission to the Mill is 4 pound for adults and 3 pounds for children and OAPs.This price is for an unguided tour ,and should you wish a tour guide you must pay an additional pound on top of the entrance fee.
You can purchase a family ticket for 13 pounds.

The Tour.
The Crabble Corn Mill is in fact a working museum and all around you is the excellent Georgian and Victorian engineering. They really have enhanced the full force of the River Dour. In the Mill it covers 6 floors showing exhibits of the milling machinery and also descriptions of the full process of turning wheat flour into breads etc.
The flour is on sale in the Farm Shop.

Farm Shop.
The farm Shop is entirely run by volunteers and because of this you get the feeling of a warm welcome. You can buy local produce here and also plants, wood for your fires and wood chippings. The shop is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily except Monday.

Summary.
The Corn Mill is an enjoyable morning or afternoon trip, it will take you about an hour to view all the mill but make time for a pop into the farm Shop and Tea Room. You can also book private functions here too. A very enjoyable and also educational trip to see how the power of water shaped the industry of milling.

Summary: An interesting attraction.
