National Railway Museum - great day out, especially when it's raining (Day Out with Thomas - York National Railway Museum)

Advantages: Free, interesting, keeps kids entertained Disadvantages: None!
This is a great museum, fantastic for whiling a few hours away in York on a rainy day. The easiest way to find the museum is to go through the railway station, and follow the signs. The museum itself has free admission, which is a bargain considering how mny trains they have. Engines range from the classic steam locomotives all the way up to a modern Japanese bullet train. It's a great place for adults who are interested in trains, and also for children. There are a number of interactive exhibits, and you can get into a few of the engines. There are also a few exhibits which change on a regular basis, at the moment the Duchess of Hamilton locomotive is on display, and will be until December 2009. Summary: Great day out in York if you're fed up of cobbled streets! |
