Fairford Church is old and beautiful but I would like to tell you about one part of this Church. This is the tower.

Once a year Fairford Church has its fete to raise money for anything that the Church needs repairing. This fete is good but the best part is that you can pay to go to the top of the tower.

This might not suit everyone especially if you are afraid of height but once you reach the top, weather permitting the view is absolutely undescribable.

Getting to the top of the tower is a feat in itself. You have a very narrow, the width of one person only, so if someone is going up you have to make sure no one is on the way down. It is spiral. Now you might think, thats okay I can cope with that, but then comes the part where the stone steps have worn away with the passage of feet for 502 years. There is some steps entirely gone where you have to take a giant step to the next one and some where there is a plank across. This I found frightening especially the higher up you went.

I would not do it every year!! But to do it at all is a proud feeling and to be up there with the flag pole is awesome.
