Fell foot park in the lake district is owned and kept by the great people of the National trust.
It is situated on the A592 between Bowness-on-windermere and Newby Bridge.
The entrance to the park is a one way system and is controlled by speed humps into the pay and display car park, which has an overflow car park toward the exit of the park. Parking cost is between £2.50 for 2 hours and £6 per day.
When you exit your car, and have placed your ticket on the window, you then walk down a steady slope, stoned pathway, down towards the western part of Lake Windermere, passing some of the most stunning colourful floral displays I have seen in a long time.
If you have parked at the overflow car park and you walk from there you should pass a small park, just off the pathway, which is great for the younger children with you, but if you stray from the path and walk through this park, through the trees, you will find a slightly larger park for the elder kids with you...have a go at the 'rope-slide', it's great fun, regardless of what age you are.
When you drag yourself away from the park, you continue along the path and this will bring you to the banking of Lake Windermere, giving you a chance to stop and admire the magnificent view across the lake toward the hills...beautiful.
There are many picnic areas and benches scattered around the park and, if you stumble across them, there are some nice, private plots for a quiet minute to ponder over the beauty surrounding you.
If sitting around and enjoying the scenery is not for you then you could always hire a rowing boat from the area near the café/ restaurant and toilets. Prices vary and this service is not available all year round, so it is advisable to try and check availability and prices beforehand. But it is a nice way to spend a nice peaceful thirty minutes out on the Lake.
But back to the park, it is such a lovely place that you could easily spend the day there without realising the time passing by, it is such a colourful, picturesque place which requires it's recognition around the world.
I have spent many a pleasant hour at Fell Foot park, simply relaxing amongst it's many acres and enjoying the beautifully kept shrubberies.
If you can manage to visit in the Autumn time then you will be in awe of the tremendous colours of the trees as the leaves begin to fall from them....fantastic.

Also in the park there is a gift shop and a tiny ice-cream vendor, just to make your visit fulfilled.

If you are near Windermere, Newby Bridge or Cartmel them pay a visit to Fell foot park, you will not regret it....it's beautiful.

Summary: Stay at the park for a day...take a picnic and relax
