A great addition to the zoo for families around christmas.

I was surprised to find that no one has yet reviewed the Frost Fair at Chester Zoo, so i thought i would be the first. Over the past few years, my daughter and the guides have visited Chester Zoo and as well as seeing the animals, they have visited the Frost Fair. When she returned, she wouldn't stop talking about it as she must have enjoyed it so much.

The Frost Fair at Chester Zoo is a great family event and includes a large ice rink, Santa's Grotto, festive crafts, gift ideas and fun-filled entertainment.

The ice rink is great for beginners or more experienced skaters, whatever you prefer. You can ice skate as a family or just your children can ice skate whilst you sit in the spectators viewing area and watch. If you are a beginner then you can skate around the edge of the rink whilst holding on, but for the more experienced ice skaters, the center of the ice rink is better for you.

You can also meet Santa by following the 'Lapland' trail. This is something the kids enjoy greatly as they get to meet Santa and his friends in the Winter Wonderland Workshop. After meeting Santa and his friends, you can continue to walk through the grotto and then retrieve a gift at the end of the trail. Santa is there until 24th December so there is plenty of time to visit him. The Santa Price is £6 a child with two accompanying adults admitted free.

As well as the ice rink and Santa's Grotto, there are some other festive activities to take a look at. These include some funny characters dressed up as winter themed animals, walking around near the ice rink. The Christmas music in the background (sometimes!) can make the day seem happier and funner, even more Christmassy !!!

Overall, the Frost Fair is a great addition to the zoo around Christmas time, making the cold weather more fun with season filled activities for all the family to be involved in.
