I had heard of Ghost Bus Tours (say it fast - get it?) and thought they sounded like a lot of fun. Quite morbid in some respects as you board a huge black old fashioned bus and go on a tour of London, finding out about people who have tragically died and those whose spirits still haunt buildings to this day.
I found the tickets on lastminute.com for £18 each and so because it was so cheap, I decided to get a group together and book it. I ended up going with 7 of my friends, as it was very affordable.
We were excited and so we headed off for London. We were only a few train rides away, as we don't live too far. We didn't have any tickets, just the confirmation email, so we were worried we weren't going to be allowed on the bus. There were no sign posts, or bus stops funnily enough, so the only information we had was that we were being picked up outside a certain hotel.
We asked in the hotel and various other places and no one knew were to collect our tickets from, but we finally found out that you get picked up by the bus directly outside.
Turns out we were pretty early, so found a small little pub to pass the time.
We were sitting outside the pub so we could keep an eye out for the bus. Quick toilet break and we had to run across the road, as the bus had arrived and out of nowhere a massive queue had formed!
We were worried we weren't going to fit on the bus and had lost our places because we didn't have tickets, but they took my name and we were instructed to board the bus. However because we were almost last to join, we couldn't all sit together, which put a downer on it a bit. However we did get very good seats right by the conductor.
The tour lasted about an hour and a half and was thoroughly entertaining - although not what we expected. We were expecting to be scared out of our wits and shaking in our boots, when in actual fact we were laughing our heads off the majority of the time! We were told of certain stories, but for the most part, we were part of a live show. With characters running on and off the bus and moving around us, by the end of the tour we were told that it was our bus that was haunted and...well I wont spoil the surprise!
For £18 and a couple of hours filled, it was lots of fun and thoroughly entertaining!
It was great value and it's a great idea for a night out with yours mates. In actual fact you can hire the bus for your own personal Ghost Bus Tour party.
So the tips I would give you are don't worry about rushing around trying to collect tickets, because you wont find any and they are not needed. Also, just wait where the confirmation email tells you to wait and get there early. If you are not sure and are looking for sign posts or some kind of sign of a Ghost Bus pick up point, don't, because you wont find one lol.
