Advantages: You can't beat a float in a boat

Disadvantages: Dirty water so no jumping in!

Whether you are a tourist or, like me, a London resident, Hyde Park is a stunning spot to spend a few hours.

In addition to the horse riding tracks, rollerblade routes, cycling lanes and acres of trees and grass is the Serpentine lake. You can reach it via a quick walk up from Knightbridge tube and on the north side of the lake you can hire row boats for 1-6 people. The cost is £5 per adult per hour or £3.50 per adult per half hour.

We took a boat out on Saturday and had a fantastic hour in the sun, bobbing up and down and avoiding other boats. If you want to strengthen those forearms or or just float around for a while then get down to the Serpentine!

Other info: no smoking, 20 minute queue, ice cream van nearby!
