      Worth it if you are staying near St Ives

      We have just returned from a break in Cornwall. When we were there last September we saw a lot of adverts around St Ives for a ghost walk, we wanted to go but we were due to leave before the next walk. Therefore, when we visited this time I was keen to find out the times for the walks. I simply searched for St Ives ghost walks and it came straight up with the information I needed. Therefore, we decided to go on the Wednesday night walk.

      ==What is the walk?==
      The lantern ghost walk is a 75 minute walk around the town of St Ives and promises to show you the darker side of St Ives. You will see the most haunted places in the town and where supernatural activity has been witnessed.

      ==Who hosts the walk?==
      The walk is hosted by a man called Shanty Baba who lives in the town of St Ives, he is a historian and does various walks around the town including a pirate walk and a comedy walk.

      ==Where do you depart from?==
      The walks begin from Westcotts Key which is about 120m behind the lifeboat house. The departure point was easy to find and when we got there about 15 minutes before the walk was due to start there were many of other people waiting.

      ==How much is it and who can go?==
      The walk costs £6 for adults and £4 for under 14's. There was no guidance on the website of how old children should be to go. My niece is 10 and she wasn't terrified but she is quite a brave girl so I would recommend thinking it carefully through before taking anyone under the age of 12.

      ==The walk==
      The walk takes you all over St Ives beginning on the sea front telling a story about smuggling, you then proceed around the town and learn various stories about the history of the town. In total we were told 6 or 7 stories so you do get your moneys worth. I don't want to tell you too much about the walk itself or the stories because I don't want to give anything away but there is plenty to focus on including a graveyard, a story about the plague and a story of a young boy caught in a fire.

      Everyone seemed to be enjoying the walk and there were quite a few people who seemed scared however the walk is not designed to scare you but instead to tell you about the darker side of St Ives. Usually I am a big wimp but I quite enjoyed this. There were many children on the walk, all of about age 8-12 and none of them seemed too scared.

      The walk does go up a few steep hills so therefore I would not recommend it for those who may struggle. We were on our feet for 75 minutes.

      ==Is it worth it?==
      Yes. I'm glad we went on the walk as it is something we had wanted to do. My partner did comment he didn't think it was worth £20 (2 adults and 2 children) but then when we talked about it he did change his mind and say that he did actually think it was worth it because of the amount of stories we were told and Shanty Baba's excellent story telling skills. Next time we are in the area I would like to go on the pirate walk.

      ==When are the walks on?==
      Currently the walks are on on Wednesday and Saturday nights at 9:15pm however, I imagine during the summer months there are more dates to attend. I would have appreciated another night because on our evening it was pouring with rain so I would have preferred to have gone another night instead!

      A spooky way to spend an evening. Really allows you to see St Ives in a different light and we all really enjoyed the walk. Recommended.
