Advantages: Interesting insight into the history of London

Disadvantages: long queues, pushed through museum quickly

It was a long day, about 5 hours on trains to get there, but this was going to be my third time to see this attraction.

Turned up at London Bridge train station and the dungeon is situated just outside. We were queuing for 2 hours, try and stay away around halloween time, this was why we were waiting so long, the most popular time of the year! as we found out. While in the queue, children could have their face painted and free lolly's were handed out. Employees of the dungeon were dressed up out side, watch out for the Grim Reaper! making this a fun day for families.

As you enter the museum, you have to buy tickets to get in, which are quite expensive, but we recieved a discount on this occassion because the "boat ride to hell" attraction was out of order. and we used our 2 for 1 coupons that are available from train stations in the south east.

The first attraction you come to is where your group have there picture taken, one member is put in the stocks and the others hold axes and pretend to cut off their head (good fun!) you are given a ticket which you can then use to buy the photo at the end. Wicked woman is the next attraction, and models are on display, which are very gruesome. It would have been nice to read all the descriptions that are given but so many people are in there that it is hard to stop and read. You seem to be in a group of around 40 people all the way round.

As it was halloween, a vampire attraction was currently underway, which was terrible to be honest, but it is fun for the children who get involved. You are then sent on to a old courtroom scenarios, and some is picked out from the audience to be put in the dock, on this occasion it was my 7 year old brother, and was found guilty of pinching wallets, men and ladies bums! he loved it. Usually after this point the boat ride takes place, but as we know, it was out of order. But... on my previous visit about 6 years ago, it was really good, it is scary and you are finally killed at the end. It is very loud and dark! Great fun.

We were then taken on to torture chamber, there are some display cases of instruments, once again hard to stop and read because of the amount of people, but you are taken into another room and another demonstration of how these instruments were used, and he shows them used on a member of the audience, this time a little girl.

You still have another two attractions after all this, the first is the jack the ripper experience and the greast fire of London. Jack the Ripper experience is interesting and the actors and actresses bring it to life, watch out for the scare at the end! With the great fire of london attraction you have to escape the fire, good fun and informative!

The gift shop completes the tour and is fun for little souvenirs of your day out, the "blood and guts cafe" is nothing special and London offers hundreds of other restaurants to stock up on food!

The London Dungeon is a great place to visit and you will enjoy it. All the people inside are very professional and act very well. The atmosphere is excellent! You will be scared, the actors love to make you jump! maybe not too good for all youngsters, my little brother got to the door and then wanted to go home! not after 2 hours of queuing we're not! It is gruesome, I love it, I've been three times, the first time when I was 8 and it is very rememberable, and I will visit it again, but not at halloween!

Ticket prices are:

£12.95 for adults
£8.95 for children

For our group, 3 adults and 1 child we paid £18.95, which included the 2 x 2 for 1 offer in the train station london attraction booklet, plus a slight discount for the boat ride not working. There is a total of four coupons in the brochure.

As I now remember, there is an extrance for groups, so pre booking tickets may get you in quicker!

I went when I was about 11 during a school trip to London. I used to be a bit of a wimp so I wasn't too keen and couldn't wait to leave!
