I was in London at the weekend with my family and we decided on the Sunday before we went home we would give a visit to the London dungeons. There was mishaps to begin with but then it turned into a very enjoyable hour and a half. This review will tell you why I recommend that you visit but also recommend that you pre-book or get there very early indeed.

The dungeons are easy to find as you get off the London underground at London Bridge station and then they are a 5 minute walk away. Now we decided to get to the dungeons early so arrived at about 10. When we saw the queue of people we knew this was not early enough. The only bad thing about the dungeons is that they handle queues terribly. People were fed up and they stopped letting people in for half hour and then the staff kept disappearing leaving everybody angry. We were in the queue for 2 hours in the end and nobody could give us an indication of waiting times at any point which I thought was bad.

When in the dungeons there is a quick photo opportunity which you are forced to take part in which is funny. Then you pay. The price is £20.95 per adult and the children's price looked to be around the £15 mark. We paid using Tesco clubcard vouchers which is fantastic so got in for a lot cheaper. If you pre booked tickets I should add that the queue would have been around the half hour mark.

The second you get in the dungeons you have characters around trying to scare you and basically having a laugh. They constantly tell you to have a horrible day which is funny but they are all dressed up well. The decoration around the place is great too so there is a lot to keep you amused.

The main bit of the dungeons though is when you join the tour. This does go on for a good 1.5 hours which is brilliant. You go through from room to room and are taken through horrors and stories and questions and basically a lot of fun. There is a Sweeney Todd section, Jack the Ripper and then a Plague section to name a few. Then you have rooms you simply have to walk through like mirror rooms and dark rooms which are terrifying.

Another part of the dungeons are the rides which are good. There is a boat ride and then a drop ride and both are entertaining.

I cant really tell you much more about the tour as I don't want to ruin it for those who are going to go but it is very entertaining but also factual at times. It is scary though so I would be wary of taking children unless you know they can handle it. I also thought it was good that they warn you of rides and strobe lights so you can skip these areas and the staff are helpful in doing so.

When you finish the tour you are sent to the gift shop where you can buy lots of goodies to remind you of your horrible day! They have magnets, mugs, clothes and basically all sorts. What I will say though is go to he toilet or eat and drink before the tour as once you are on there you cant get off that easily to have a sit down or a rest.

All in all though the dungeons are a fantastic place to visit if you are in London. The staff there have obviously been doing it for a long time as they are great at entertaining you. I would recommend going but just pre book or get there early and it will make your day so much better. Just some advice though Tescos vouchers do not give you any priority access so although it is great you will still have to queue.

Go if you dare!

Thanks for reading.

I nearly went a few weeks ago when we were in London, but with the queues that long I'm glad we didn;t

Brilliant place the dungeons - love it lots. I'm dead jumpy so I get a lot out of it. I'd say definitely pre-book AND get there early, pretty much walked straight in when we did that. Great review.
