Advantages: Fantastic views, Buy tickets in advance, Lose your fear of heights !

Disadvantages: Probaly going at weekends,During school breaks and when its foggy !

Last week I went on the London Eye for the first time. I wasn't going to write a review as so much has been said already, but this morning I felt quite sad when I read another review by a dooyoo'er who hadn't had the same pleasure that I had.

I had purchased the tickets for myself and for my daughters 26th birthday as a treat, it also was a double ticket the other half being for The London Dungeons (Another review yet to write!)

On walking up the steps of Westminster Tube I was overcome by the sight
of Big Ben as usual, it never fails to impress me how beautiful it is!, but as I
turned the corner and saw the London Eye I was completely shocked of how
tall and elegant it stood. Not a great lover of heights I walked towards it very
slowly!

We had arrived about 8o'clock on a Tuesday Evening there wasn't a queue
insight, but alot of people milling about. As we approached the Eye there were a lot of security people about. We were searched and our shopping
bags (Primark in Oxford Street had loaded us up!) were looked into, which
I think puts peace of mind when going on such a well known landmark.

Once searched you then approach the boarding area as the Eye is constantly moving (26cm per second ) you step into your capsule, security also check each capsule before you are allowed in. The capsule's are very
spacious, we were lucky as we had about 12 other people in our one. The
views were spectacular, as you can see Buckingham Palace and on a clear
day even Windsor Castle! you can see for about 25 miles but it does have
to be clear. Even though I'm not to good with heights there was something
in feeling quite safe in the capsules and I wondered right over to the windows without any fear.

Just before your flight ( as they call it!) ends they say about taking your photo, on the right side of the capsule as you go in you will notice two marked circles on the floor one at each end, what you have to do is stand
around that part and your photo will be taken. If you are lucky enough
(as my son was with his girlfriend )you may get to be the only ones interested and be the only people in the photo.

So maybe as the other dooyoo'er suggested it is best to go during the week
and maybe a bit later in the evening.I'm already planning my next trip to the Eye as I now want to go when it is dark as I have heard that can be just
as exciting ! So if you haven't already been I would suggest giving it a go
and I hope you enjoys it as much as we did!

Summary: I had a great experience and can't wait to go again.
