Reach to sky, with the London Eye
The London Eye is located on the Edge of The River Thames, in the South Bank area of London, next to County Hall, and just in front of the Shell Centre. It's about 5 minutes walk from London Waterloo station, and is one of the highest man, made structures in England. It was sponsored by British Airways to celebrate the start of the new Millennium, 10 years ago back in 2000 and is now one of the most famous landmarks and tourist attractions in London.
The London Eye is essentially a Big Wheel, with thirty glass capsules which provide a panoramic view of London - something I enjoy time and time again, thanks to my Annual Merlin Pass. In fact during in 2009 I have been on it around 15 times, to gasp at the views and capture some of the most amazing photographs/sights of London.
Booking onto the London Eye is simple, you can buy a standard ticket and wait in a queue, or pay a little extra to fast track yourself through the queue's by booking a specific time slot. Once aboard, in your capsule, you can endulge yourself in some of the most amazing views, for the 30 minutes or so ride. Having you camera's to hand is a must, as you only have 5 or so minutes at the peak level before you start to drop down again.
If you like the idea of the London Eye and theme parks, then check out the Merlin Pass. At around £100 a year, you can make use of the London Eye, and Theme Parks throughout the UK, time and time again.
