Advantages: Amazing landmark
Disadvantages: Telephone Booking!!!
If you want to have a really good time on the eye go with as many of your good friends as possible. (Group rates as well) I went with about ten of my close friends and it was a laugh. If you can get your souvenier picture taken before the ride and try to get as many people as possible in the picture for an added laugh. Booking in advance is a good idea. (Note: Telephone booking is really annoying. Automated woman that talks r...e...a...l...l...y slowly, but once that is done that is the annoying part over. Unfortunately no on-line booking.) Try and get a clear evening and book late enough in the evening to get a sunset. You will see beautiful London as you have never seen it before. What will make the ride will be the enthusiasum of your guide. We had a great one who told us all sorts of interesting facts like each bench in the pod cost about 10 000 pounds to make and you can benches similar to the ones in the pods at IKEA for about a tenth of the price. If you guide is good he will try and point out many of the major land marks. Pictures don't come out too well when you try to take them through the glass. (If any one can tell me how to do this, I would be grateful). A trip on the eye is best done as part of an evening. Try and have dinner before or after the trip. Or go down the pub. If you can afford it, surrender to the tourist in yourself and buy the picture of you and your friends on the eye. Better yet buy someone else's picture. Good fun. Pretty land mark. I'll do it again.
