Advantages: unparelled views; beautiful structure
The London Eye is everything that the Dome is not. Disarmingly simple in its conception (it's just a big wheel giving unrivalled views of London), it also happens to be a beautiful piece of engineering. As you wander around the city you keep catching glimpses of its delicate, towering form. Although it wasn't initially intended to be a permanent structure, Londoners and visitors alike have fallen in love with it and, like the Eiffel Tower, it is sure to become a permanent fixture of the London skyline.
However, the queues to ride on it are horrendous. You'd be insane not to prebook, but even if you do, expect to wait for around half an hour before you get on. It's worth the wait though.
