Advantages: Excellent entertainment
Disadvantages: None
The National Space centre in Leicester was opened in 2001 and in 2007 it was the was given the accolade of Visitor Attraction of the Year. So what makes this place so special and so good?
Well to begin with there are over 150 interactive activities and galleries. They are spread around 6 galleries which a re great for all the family. You can travel up in a glass lift. This takes you too the sky rocket tower. This was really good and the kids enjoyed this. There is also a space theatre here too. You can sit back in the chairs and the experience takes you on a journey of discovery through the planets and solar system. It lasts about half hour and is all in with your ticket.
Another good thing about the National space centre is the fact you can see if you have what it takes in order to be an astronaut. You go through a series of mental challenges and physical challenges. You go into a simulator where you take on a mission and its all in 3D.
How much?
It is a good idea to pre book your tickets before you set off because the queues can be very big. Although there is a booking fee of £1.25. The actual tickets are just under £13 for an adult and a little under £11 for under 16s. For a family of 4 you pay a bit under £40. This is good value considering the experience you have.
How to get there?
It is 2 miles away from the centre of Leicester. Best thing to do is take the M1 or M69 depending on where you are travelling from and head to the city centre. It will be signposted from there. There are well over 400 parking spaces, a restaurant and shop so all in all you will have a good day. This is ideal for the upcoming half term holidays or the summer holidays and the kids will really enjoy it.
Summary: Very good value
