Pitheavlis Castle is the second of the Perth and Strathearn castles that I found in dooyoo catalogue as part of "sightseeing national" despite the fact that the building is not a tourist attraction of any kind. In fact, it's rather hard to find any information on its history.

According to "The castellated and domestic architecture of Scotland from the twelfth to the eighteenth century" (1887) by MacGibbon and Ross, Pitheavlis is not referred to in the local histories. In the more recent years it was a council owned building, providing space for community groups, it also was used as part of the council housing stock. The ground floor property was sold to a private buyer in 2007, but I couldn't find any information on the rest of the castle.

Still, it's something of Perth landmark, being quite high up in the town and a very typical example of a Scottish tower house from the 16th century. It's very easy to find, being directly off Needless Road, which itself comes off Glasgow Road (A93).

You can drive up directly to the house, it seem to be a normal residential property now, and is surrounded by what looks like council retirement bungalows. There is a bit of a view down from the terrace on which the castle is located to the Tay and beyond, but nothing to write home about.
