I never was really interested in studying at University but because of the credit crunch I found it very hard to find employment coming out of school, and then the acceptance letter came and I thought I might as well give it a go.

I decided to study Business Information Technology, which is basically half a business degree and half a computers degree. This was a great degree to study though I have found there is poor communication between the two schools (The School of Management and The School of Computers and Electronics) which has resulted in class clashes and other problems that were quickly sorted out after a number of students complained.

The university has recently joined the Russel Group which is universities within the UK which are rewarded for their outstanding research, this is good for Queens graduates as the university looks good on their CV.

The servies that the university provides are:
Online notes: all notes are posted online so that if they miss a class they can catch up easily.
Personal Tutor: this is someone who helps you settle into university life and is there in case you need any questions answered about where your next lecture will be held, where is 'X' building etc.
There is also help provided at the Student Guidance Centre however I have found going to these people for help can be a bit of a waste of time.
Freshers week is a week set aside for socialising and making new friends before term time starts, during this week there is lots of workshops run to help you get to know your classmates.

The teaching at the school is a bit hit and miss, which is probably true at all schools if you think about it, you come across some really helpful and inspiring teachers and then in your next class you lecturer could be a terrible teacher who doesn't have a clue what they are talking about. Over all though I have found the staff (barr a few) really helpful and good at teaching.

I'm glad that I decided to study at Queens now and to do my degree. I am having a great time making new friends and learning in a great environment. To think I wouldn't have went if I would have found a job, maybe for every cloud there is a silver lining.
