Advantages: Great scenery, disabled acess, lots of speicies of flora and fauna

Disadvantages: Have to pay for car parking

Living in Dover me and my girlfriend visit Samphire Hoe maybe a few times throughout the year to walk and take the dogs for a stroll around this site and the beach beyond.

Samphire Hoe.
The Hoe itself was made from 4.9 million cubic metres of chalk marl which was dug from the channel tunnel in its construction. The site is actually owned by Euro tunnel and is managed in partnership with the White Cliffs project.

Gaining Entry.
Entry to the Hoe is from the A20 motorway on the west bound carriage way to London. There is a well signposted slip road and when you reach this you have to stop at a set of traffic lights.
These are in place purely as the single tunnel which accesses the Hoe is only suitable for 1 vehicle at a time.

Car Parking.
There are 2 car parks which is handy in the busier summer months and these are pay and display which is about 40p for half hours parking.

Samphire Hoe.
On leaving the car park you can take 2 routes around the Hoe and sample the views of the White Cliffs and you can see why they are classed as a Kent Downs area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The tracks are made out of crushed stone and very fine so wheelchair user can easily navigate the paths and the many bridges over the man made lakes an small streams on the site.
The whole walk will take you about an hour to do, and you can walk against the break water walls where you can see local fishermen casting there rods.
On your return to the car park there is a refreshment kiosk where you can purchase ice creams, cold drinks, rolls and crisps to name a few of the many snack foods on offer.

Summary.
All in all the Hoe is a very relaxed walk and a really good spot to view the majestic white cliffs. There is a beach at the far end of the Hoe, although pebbles is still a secluded area to sit and soak up the sun.

Summary: A nice place to take a relaxing stroll
