Loch Ness ... see Nessie but standing and staring across the water it is easy to let your imagination run wild. The Location Lock Ness lies within a natural geographical fault called the Great Glen. There are actually four different lochs within the Great Glen but Loch Ness is by far the largest and most famous of these. If you look at a map of Scotland and find Inverness on the top right hand coast in the north-east and Fort William on the west coast then basically the Great Glen runs along a diagonal line between these two points. Waverly Paddle Steamer ... found the trip doon the watter a little below par. The whole experience was lacking in atmosphere. It could have been improved with some background music or something like an old guy playing the accordion to get folks going. That might have been cheering on a dull day when the views were less than inspiring. The facilities left a lot to be desired considering the boat had recently had a refit. It was extremely difficult for invalided people to board the boat as the gangway didn t seem suited for wheelchairs or the elderly. The invalid toilets were easily accessible on the main deck however the ladies and gents toilet facilities were not clearly marked and you had... The Meadows (Edinburgh) ... What are the meadows? The meadows is basically the name given to a large park on the south side of the centre of Edinburgh. It is a large flat open area of grass and is popular with all age-groups. It extends for approximately 58.4 acres and is less than a mile away from the centre of town. The meadows backs on to what used to be the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh which was Edinburghs main and oldest hospital. This has now been moved to an area on the outskirts of town and the hospital is undergoing redevelopment as Quartermile a development of upmarket apartments.
