Advantages: very attractive

Disadvantages: expensive

The Severn Bridge joins England and Wales over the River Severn. I can't imagine how awkward it was to cross from England to Wales or vice versa before the bridge. Living in Wales but coming from England, most of my friends and family are on the other side of the bridge from me and going all the way around over land every time I wanted to visit anyone in the south would be a nightmare.

I'm very thankful for the bridge and what a beautiful bridge it is too. I love the way you can see it on your approach, towering above the trees and hills. So high and spectacular and some lovely views over the water at the right time of day.

However, all of this beauty is far outweighed by what it costs to keep it looking that way. As I said, I cross over the bridge quite regularly and I am amazed at the toll prices and they just keep rising! At the moment, to cross into Wales it will cost you £5.40 if you have a car and £10.90 if you have a small van. Add that to your already ever mounting petrol costs and you have quite an expensive journey.

I'm not sure the expense is worth it. I'd rather a less attractive bridge and a cheaper toll.

Summary: Better than going all the way around but it is a bit pricey

Which bridge are you talking about the old one or the new one? Can't remember if there is a toll on both of them or just the new one.
