Advantages: you can talk about what ever you want, you'll enjoy seeing people defending you or applausing you but it can be opposite as well
Disadvantages: some extremists may be there and you may not feel safe
Speaker’s Corner In 1872, a low was formed allowing people to make speech about what they want. After that time, speaker’s corner became the meeting point of different and interesting (sometimes strange !!) people. It is really worth to see there. You should go there on Monday. In a Sunday morning, you may find a single member of a political party or some marginal People. Actually when I first went there, I was unaware of Speaker’s Corner, I was just walking around in Hyde Park. And I saw some people speaking about my country and judging how bad Muslims we were. I found myself in an high-tension argument. At first, I was trying to defend myself against drove of people from the same part of the world. It was a really interesting experience. In a few minutes, I began to see people supporting me behind me. Although there was a police walking around but I really could not feel myself safe there. Although I really enjoyed arguing with people (some of theme were really extremist) some of them were very offensive. I stopped speaking and left there, when a drunk guy appeared with alcohol in his hand. Despite some nasty people, I enjoyed my day there. I had the opportunity to speak with people with different opinions. I am sure to speak with the others not with fanatics must be even better. I hope you'll enjoy speaking there. But make sure, you stay calm !!

- 16/09/01 Never been there myself. I expect people have a lot to say there at the moment. Right now the whole world needs to stay calm. |

- 16/09/01 Oh, I used to go to Speakers Corner all the time. Haven't been for years now. I used to think it was great, it'd be a shame if it's got too aggressive. |
