Advantages: Architecture

Disadvantages: Location

I've lived in Belfast for many years and only went back to the Cathedral recently. When I was ar the Art College nearby many moons ago we used to go in occasionally, back then it was cold, austere and quiet, forbidding.

Went back a few weeks ago and was very struck by the building. It's such a shame in a way that it is in such a unpreposessing location in a slightly down at heel street. It is an impressive building, I love the huge celtic cross on the side and the spire of hope. Slight shame the spire isn't better lit. Interesting photos of the Belfast blitz.

Found the interior so interesting, I'm sure that one of the stone carvings insiide is by Rosamund Praeger but it didn't say. Lovely mosaics and statuary, very dignified. More people there too, tourists and some staff which gave the place a needed live feel.

A must see, say a prayer for peace.

Interesting place

Summary: A place to visit
