Advantages: Good pool.

Disadvantages: Costly, Life Guards too strict.

I recently visited this leisure centre for the purpose of swimming, so my review will be about going into the leisure centre and using the pool, I am afraid I have not taken part in any other activities or sports at this Lesiure Centre. Easy to find, the Leisure centre is pretty well sign posted as you leave the motorway and has lots of parking, although the parking is not free, and you pay a few pounds for every hour you plan to stay.

We got in, and the firrst thing I have to say is that I was shocked by the prices. £7 to use the swimming pool! That seems a lot to me, swimming pools are usually only a couple of pounds, although I hadn't been swimming in a long time, so perhaps times have changed. They issue you with a ticket and are very hot on security. After you get changed in the mixed changing rooms, you have to show the lifeguard sat at the pool desk your ticket just to get into the pool. I'm not sure there's anyway to cheat the system, as to even get past the front desk you have to go through those metal barrier things after putting your ticket through, but clearly this leisure centre has been the target of unpaying visitors in the past! Security is immense.

The pool is quite big, and it does have all the frilly extras. It's got three slides, one is very fast, one is slow as anything and one is an absoloutely massive one that you go down in a rubber ring on. It's got the whirpool, jacuzzi and my favourite part - a surf style area where waves are produced and a certified surfing instructor gives you a surfing lesson - though I did not get the chance to try this unfortunately.

One thing I did notice was that the life guards are quite tight. I tend to notice a spectrum across the swimming pools I visit, with some having life guards only to watch for emergencies. At swansea, if you swim in the wrong direction in the whirpool to try and fight it, sure enough the whistle blows. This was a little tight I thought. They also have a life guard guarding every slide, which seems a little over the top to me.

A good Lesiure centre, but a little bit too well staffed, a little too strict and a little too expensive.

Summary: Worth a visit I'd say.
