Having spent nine years working in this building, I feel that I can comment on pretty much everything to do with it!
Opened in 1877, designed by Alfred Waterhouse this building is a beauty, right from its basements to its funny winding stairs up to offices in the sky!
The toilets are a must as well with big wooden seats that are still warm in winter!
Although not a building that is very publicly acessible, (it isa working building) you have probbaly seen most of it on tv at one time or another (house of cards etc) and as a photo opportunity it is great.
From a public point of view you will probably get as far as the great hall which has a massive organ! And also a great painted ceiling which for years had the south african crest covered up!
Don't go especially to see it, but make it part of your wider visit to Manc
