Advantages: A great day out and a fantastic way to learn about a amazing designer

Disadvantages: A little short

I visited this exhibit on Sunday in Sheffield where it is currently located. It was very interesting and a great insight into the life of a big time designer.

The exhibit has been touring around the world for the past 4 years thanks to the V&A museum. It final destination was Sheffield and is about to close (21st September). Westwood herself has lent the clothes, shoes and accessories to V&A.

Myself and my mother visited the exhibition and I found the prices very reasonable-
Adult - £6
Concession - £4 OAP or Student 17 + with NUS card
Children - £1 5-16
Off peak period - £5 2-5pm weekdays
Friends of Museums Sheffield - Free

When in the museum I was faced with a large dark room filled with clothes designed by Vivienne throughout her career. At the beginning of the visit you get to have a insight into her early work (Punk clothes) with former husband Malcom McLaren. It shows how brave and creative she is. Right through the exhibit you see how eras have changed and how Vivienne managed to create looks for everyone and still be fashionable and different.

Some notable pieces are- a beautiful blue corset made of thousands of swarovski crystals. A dress designed to look like a naked body with feathers as the bottom skirt. Also a lot of shoes including the infamous shoes that Naomi Campbell fell over in.
The exhibition is a little short but that can be forgiven.

All in all I would highly recommend this exhibit as a day out for anyone interested in fashion.

Summary: A great and educational exhabition
