Nantcol Waterfalls (Llanbedr):
... Nantcol Waterfalls ~~ We had a lovely week away camping in North Wales; it’s what we call our Doggy holiday as we take the dogs to the seaside. This year we took Chloe our 4 year old Golden Retriever and we left Jessie the puppy with our daughter. At the beginning of the week I popped into information and picked up loads of tourist leaflets and the one for Nantcol Waterfalls caught my eye and it was Dog friendly,... Tintern Abbey (Tintern Village, Wales) ... stranger, that with lingering feet, Enchained by wonder, pauses on this green; Where thy enraptured sight the dark woods meet, Ah! rest awhile and contemplate the scene. These hoary pillars clasped by ivy round, This hallowed floor by holy footsteps trod, The mouldering choir by spreading moss embrowned Where fasting saints devoutly hymned their God. So wrote Edmund Gardner towards the end of the eighteenth century and this passionate flow of words sits as a wonderful introduction to the beauty of Tintern Abbey and the landscape around. Britain seems to be a land of churches and monastic buildings and due to the politics of the Reformation, many of these have be... Museum of Welsh Life ... around a castle in Wales and sooner or later you’re bound to spy some ghostly apparition or hear things that go bump in the night, and as you would expect from a city that’s been around 2000 years Cardiff has its fair share of spooky stories. Cardiff’s most well known ghost is that of the 2nd Marquess of Bute, who died suddenly one night in his home of Cardiff Castle and whose ghost now haunts the library close to where he died. Tours of Cardiff Castle take place every day, and a short journey North takes you to another of the Marquess homes, Castel Coch. Also known as the Red Castle, this ancient building is claimed to be haunted by a woman named Dame Griffiths... Read the full review: Ghostly goings on at the Museum of Welsh Life by judderman |

Dan yr Ogof Showcaves ... in the Brecon Beacon’s National Park in South Wales are the Dan-yr-Ogof Showcaves. If Wales was to have it’s own seven wonders, Dan-yr-Ogof caves would definitely be one of them. Being about an hour’s drive from Cardiff where we live, I thought we would give them a visit as I hadn’t been then since being about 12 years old. When we arrived and made our way down into the caves, there was a noticeable drop in temperature to that of a cool autumn day – my wife thought it was colder, but she tends to feel the cold more than me anyway. Our guide explained that the temperature stays more or less the same all the year round. A great place to visit in a heat-wave, but...
