Advantages: Loads of boards, bar on site, great delivery service

Disadvantages: Out of town

Warhammer World is the international headquarters of the Games Workshop store chain. It is also where most of the companies design and production work takes place. The scope of the place is rather huge and consists of a number of areas.

The first is the miniatures hall, where you can find on display thousands of models from dozens of races in a great number of games. These are the ones painted by the professionals who Games Workshop pay to produce them for their publications. It can be a breathtaking experience but isn't particularly interactive so don't go looking for a fun and exciting experience, but it is interesting.

The second area is the store, this is a gimme really. Not much to say but if you order anything from Mail Order by 1pm it'll be at the store by the end of the day, something no other Games Workshop store can offer, I believe this also includes the Forgeworld products but I wouldn't swear to it.

There is also a large gaming hall with dozens of 6x4' tables including some mammoth sized ones for the large scale battles, this serves as a focal point for visiting gamers often hosting large scale tournaments or simply allowing somewhere for you to go and meet a new friend.

And of course no review of the place can be written without mention of Bugman's Bar. This place is actually exceptional, it's a bar that I'd go in in town instead of a Games Workshop store, admittedly it carries a lot of theme with it but also pulls a reasonable pint (including the exclusive Bugman's Ale) and serves a decent burger. They also have a wide range of games to play (as in board games, not wargames) and a range of Bugmans merchandise such as hoodies, miniatures, keyrings and a number of other things besides.

Also worth mentioning is the ample parking, definitely a bonus especially as it's free.

Worth a trip if you're in the area or have a special event planned, or for the die hard hobbiest, probably not a trip to make just to see it though.

Summary: Well worth a visit if you're going by, but don't go there just to see it.
