Whitby is in North East England and is surrounded by the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The harbour splits the town right down the middle and is an excellent place to watch the world go by. In the harbour you will see a range of boats from traditional fishing boats to trawlers and leisure craft. You can have a tour on a boat for around £2 per person, a great price I think. The boat leaves the harbour and takes you north and then spins round and comes back to the harbour. The skipper tells you all about Whitby as you go and you can get great views of the Abbey and St Mary's Church.

If you have time I would advise a trip to the fish market early morning when the boats have just brought in their catch. It is a really interesting place to go and it's completely free.

By the harbour are a range of shops, cafes and restaurants. The best fish and chip shop is Trenches but be prepared to wait for a table.

I love Whitby and visit a few times a year it's a great place for all ages.

Summary: great place to visit

Whitby is great - although I haven't been there for years :)
