Advantages: childrens playground, cafe, gardens, free, events

Disadvantages: hall often closed

Wythenshawe park and Hall was owned by the Taton family for over 400 years (See Taton park) and originally extended 2,500 acres, however under government pressure the Tatons handed the park over to the council for housing. A small amount of land was saved for the park and hall we see today.

Wythenshawe park offers a number of facilities including crazy golf, tennis courts, a BIG childrens playground, farm, atheltics track, bowls, toilets, Horticultural Center, and horse riding.

There are often fairs and events and usually a firework display in November, Wythenshawe park is an ideal place for a family day out.

FOOD & DRINK
- there is a courtyard tearoom (open 11am - 4pm)
- Usually there is an ice cream van
- Next to the tennis courts there is a hut selling ice cream and drinks

COSTS
The park and hall is free although in the summer there is often a £1 fee for parking.

WILDLIFE
Grey squirrels and ducks.

NOTE
I would ring ahead if you are planning to go to the hall (+44 (0)161 998 2331) because it is only open once a week in certain times of the year.

Whythenshawe park has a lot to offer, and is the best park i've been to that isn't under the national trust and charging a £20 entry fee.

Summary: A huge park with a tudor hall and lots of facilities
