Trev11 The Remarkables: ... Introduction * The Remarkables is a ski resort in Queenstown, New Zealand and is named after the mountain range within which it is situated. It is owned by NZSki Ltd who also run the resorts Coronet Peak (also in Queenstown) and Mount Hutt near Christchurch. It is usually open for skiing and snowboarding from mid June until early October depending on snowfall. I spent a winter season in Queenstown in 2005 and th...

dee778 Jasna
... is the largest and most popular ski resort in Slovakia. I have visited Jasna twice, once in 2006 and once in 2008. I have only been there for the skiing, and I am writing about it from this perspective. ~~Background~~ Jasná is a small village situated in central Slovakia, in the Low Tatras mountains. The Low Tatras are are a mountain range which extends more than 80 km west to east, and are located in their own national park. The village is very small and extremely pretty, nestling in the valley between the mountains and surrounded with pine trees. So far it is completely unspoilt. The centre of the village is the Hotel Grand - a four star hotel which has a swimmin...

yahoo2003 Les Trois Vallees
... Trois Vallees consists of La Tania, Meribel and Courcheval (although I sometimes hear differences of opinion as to exactly what they include). My parents own a place in La Tania so I ve been there numerous times and it s fantastic. In terms of skiing, if you are a beginner a simple lift pass (eg just a La Tania pass if you re based in La Tania or just Courcheval if you re in Courcheval) is definitely enough, but if you re a very experienced skier you will probably want to pay the extra bit and get a 3 valley pass. While some ski resorts are mainly just good for beginners or just good for advanced skiers, I think the 3 valleys is good for everyone - a decent amoun...

hypno06 Meribel
... children are into their skiing in a big way, and that includes racing. Sadly, what used to be time spent on family ski holidays is now time spent carting the children to various race venues, or training for such events. We therefore don t get to choose our destinations in the same way as we used to, being governed instead by the race calendar. At the end of the winter season, the British Champs are held in Meribel, and so for two weeks in April we find ourselves in this resort..... Meribel, in France, forms part of the Three Valley ski area - an area in the Savoie region of France which includes Courcheval, Val Thorens, Meribel, and the new resort of Orelle. You c...
