Bansko:
... visited Bansko (Bulgaria) a year ago for a beginner snowboarding holiday. The town itself is a hub of activity, with a charming mixture of reminants from its communist days in the form of statues, plaques and memorabila, combined with delightful architecture and traditional restaurants. If its clubs your after, there are plenty catered towards the ski industry, with lots of 18-30 pub crawls and a wide array of nig... Read the full review: Bansko Ski Resort by distorted_rage |

Morzine in general ... went to Morzine (staying in the neighbouring Les Gets) for just 2 nights and 2 days of skiing in the period between Christmas and New Year 2008. As a resort, Morzine has quite a young, busy feel - quite expensive and clearly catering for the foreign market. I preferred Les Gets because it just had a nicer, quainter feel to it, with more interesting shops and restuarants. We were extremely lucky to get accommodation for a short stay at that time of year, when usually you ll only be able to book a minimum of 7 nights. We stayed at Hotel a la Bonne Franquette in Les Gets, which was about 2 mins walk from the chairlift and extremely accommodating. Run by a lovely lady an... Fulpmes ... loved Fulpmes! We went about 3 years ago, and although the resort isn t massive, there s some good solid skiing to be done and it s not particularly crowded either - even at peak season! I loved the wide, winding blue runs and the more challenging reds were great too - quite tough, compared with other reds I ve skiied in Austria. The fact that you re doing a lot of your skiing in the treeline is also great, and there s tons of absolitely brilliant off-piste, great for powder monkeys. Not sure from a snowboarding point of view...I d say most boarders would probably get bored, although there was a pretty cool snowpark. It is a skibus job, (or a short walk uphill from the ... Sella Ronda ... went to Val di Fassa, which is part of the Sella Ronda. I d say the best thing about the holiday was the fact that there are so many nice blues - some good long runs, and the food was just AWESOME! Man, I love Italy for that! But skiing-wise, I ve had better. I don t like it when the different bits are too spread out, and you have to keep getting on skibusses. it s just a hassle...Having said that, it was quite an adventure, and I got to see a lot more than previous holidays, where we ve just skied all day long and then never left the hotel at night. There were also a lot of queues, especially when we skiied the areas towards the left of the piste map. We found it leas...
