Livigno is a duty free village on the Italian / Swiss border and is known for it's value due to its status as a duty free town. Livigno Skiing - Advantages: almost guaranteed snow, extensive skiing area, duty free haven - it's cheap - Disadvantages: transfer time, very cold in January, duty free haven - spoils the village

We were in Livigno in February 1999. Stayed in the Hotel Alpina half board, the Hotel was fine, very picturesque shuttered bedroom with an accomodating bath, but the food was only ok.
