Earlier in the year, we went to Megeve for a weeks skiing. The reason we went to Megeve was that my father was going there for his birthday so my husband and I went to make up the numbers (and make the most of a free chalet)! We got flights to Geneva and then hired a car to take us up the mountain. One fantastic thing about the resort is its locality to Geneva so shouldn't take more than 1 hour to get there (providing you don't get lost, which we did). This is a beautiful resort in the Mont Blanc area of France. It's not purpose built, so the village is charming, and there are many more French people there than tourists. I suppose it's not the greatest place to go if you're interested in a British dominated apres ski, but there are a few bars which are quite lively (ie. Harry's Bar). The resort is low altitude, so if you go early or late you run the risk of lack of snow. I went in the 1st week of March and conditions were perfect at the beginning of the week, but by the end of the week it was a bit too warm and the snow was beginning to get slushy.
