Advantages: Beautiful town, Few British people

Disadvantages: Low altitude, Not great for experts

This is a beautiful resort in the Mont Blanc area of France. It's not purpose built, so the village is charming, and there are many more French people there than tourists. I suppose it's not the greatest place to go if you're interested in a British dominated apres ski, but there are a few bars which are quite lively (ie. Harry's Bar). The resort is low altitude, so if you go early or late you run the risk of lack of snow. I went in the 1st week of March and conditions were perfect at the beginning of the week, but by the end of the week it was a bit too warm and the snow was beginning to get slushy. I'd say that Feb is the safest time to go. The resort is best for beginners and intermediates, though there is some off piste skiing for more advanced skiers. Also, Chamonix is close enough for a day trip, as is Argentičre. Megeve is only an hour from Geneva, so it's a short transfer, and the resort is snow board-friendly. I don't know if I'd go there again, as after a week I had skied most of the pistes several times, but it was great as a one-off.
