Mont Tremblant - A skiers Paradise in Eastern North America (Mont Tremblant)
Member Name: Salstar
Advantages: Not as far to fly from Europe as the Rockies, and great resort Disadvantages: Can be expensive as this is a popular resort We have visited Mont Tremblant several times and really love the resort. This resort is best known for skiing and is situated in the Laurentian Mountains in the Canadian province of Quebec, approximately one and a half hours' drive north of Montreal. Tremblant has been recognised as the best ski resort in eastern North America for several years running and is owned by Intrawest who also own the Whistler resort in British Columbia. We stayed in the 'Tour des Voyageurs' which is a self catering apartment complex in the pedestrian village and so is very convenient for evening activities, restaurants, bars and daytime access to the ski slopes. As this is a huge tourist location with many visitors coming up from the USA, the prices can be expensive and restaurants charge a premium, but the resort is well designed and has everything you need for a skiing holiday. The snow conditions are usually very good there and in total there are 94 trails to get your teeth into with plenty of runs for learners and intermediate skiiers as well as for the more experienced. If you fancy a day off from the skiing you can take up one of the activities arranged by the resort's Activities Centre such as snowmobiling (we tried this and it is great fun!), or dogsledding. Accommodation can be booked through the resort's website and there are often some special deals to be had. Although this resort is in the French speaking province of Quebec, you have no problem if you only speak English as the workers are used to the influx of English speaking tourists all year round. The resort is also great in the summer months for sailing, mountain biking and walking. Summary: Great skiing and other all year round activities in Quebec! |
