Advantages: Great ski terrain, great Bars and great food!

Disadvantages: Expensive and loud if your looking for a quiet location.

I spent a whole winter season in Morzine, 4 months altogether and can safely say it was the best time of my life! I stayed in the Chalet Nantegue which is a relaxed chalet run by snowboarders. This means they know what you want as a customer and will do anything to ensure they meet your requirements. You can stay at the chalet wether you are spending 4 months there or just 1 week, the cost is charged on a daily basis much like a hostel. Rooms range from Single rooms up to large 6 bed dorm rooms, i opted for the 3 bed dorm and was comfortable. The atmosphere in the chalet is great, parties and BBQ's are frequently arranged of which attract people from all over the town.
As for Morzine itself, it is a fairly small French alpine town located close to the Swiss boarder. There are two lifts located within 300 meters of each other, one heads in the direction of Avoriaz whist the other will take you towards les Gets. I would recommend the full area pass as this will cover both lifts and therefore maximize you available skiing terrain.
There are many bars located in Morzine, my favorites include The Cavern, which is an underground bar packed full of tourists wanting to have a good time, it is open every night till 3am, the only problem is the price of drinks, especially with the pound so weak at the moment! Bar Robinson is famous in Morzine because of the strength of one beer in particular, Mutzig is a strong beer and often drunk after a full day snowboarding! Finally Le Sherpa is run by a friend of mine, Tim. It's a small bar with a great atmosphere, drinks are cheap for the area and the foods great too!
If you are self catering there are two supermarkets to choose from, 'Champion' is located at the south of the town and has really good quality food for respectable prices, it is however a fairly long up hill struggle if you have no car! 'Ed ' is the other option, this is located in the center of town and is the budget choice, it offers a good selection of food for a competitive price.

Summary: The best ski resort i have visited!
