Relaxed resort with great skiing (Mottaret)

I went to Mottaret last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The resort is situated right in the middle of the Three Valleys so you've got great access to all the pistes.

I stayed in Le Hameau appartments at the top of the resort, it's ski in and out and once you've skied down into the main part of the resort the choice of lifts is fantastic.

The Three Valleys is a great place to ski, the quality of the runs is unsurpased and can keep people of any ability busy. The lift system is excellent with very few queues even at peak times, generally you can expect to wait about 5 minutes.

Mottaret is a small village with very few bars, and the choice of restaurants is quite limited. The main problem with the lay out of the resort is that everything is at the bottom, so if like me your accomodation is at the top, you have an exhausting walk after a few bevvies. They have a gondola lift which runs between top and bottom, but this closes at about 8pm, which obviously isn't ideal.

Overall I'd recommend the resort because of the fantastic skiing, but the nightlife is quiet so don't expect a wild time, but then if you're after a relaxing apres-ski this is the place to go.
