Stayed at the Quartier des Bergers Apartments last week and found them to be great value for money and ideally situated for the slopes. We had 2 apartments with 6 people in each. There were a few grumbles from those on the sofa bed and pull out bed and was a bit cramped as to be expected with maximum occupancy but was quite workable. The kitchenette has 4 hobs and a microwave / grill thing but no oven which would have been nice but didnt really matter too much. Les Bergers apartments are billed as a four star accomodation block, but I must admit to being a little disappointed. One weeks experience hardly qualifies me as an expert, but this was what we found. We had a room of six, which was cramped, because it was equipped with exactly the same amenities as the fours, but with an extra bedroom. The fixtures and fittings were not especially pretty or elegant, and had a certain "do the job and no more" air about them. The four star plastic seating on the balcony was particularly pleasing, with the two chairs for a room of six. There was ample cutlery and so on, and a dishwasher, which was a godsend, but no ... Oh, yes indeed it is! You see, hopefully you’ll know that a shower is a must for me anywhere I stay or go (maybe Sainsbury’s is the one exception... but I’ll make a point to mention it in their next customer satisfaction survey) and that was what was missing at L’Ours Blanc apartments over the other side of Alpe d’Huez town. Breaking the Scott family tradition this year we shipped over to Quartier Des Bergers apartments just for a bit of a laugh really, but were more than pleasantly surprised!
