If you are into the more traditional skiing holiday the i would say go to france but if this is your first time or your looking for something different to the Alps the go to the USA. Even if you are a beginner (as I was when i went) you can make it to several peaks by the end of one week. The weather is always great and the skiing challenging but most of all its great fun. Even if your not confident its so fun and you begin to develop a great skill due to the great coaching and the world-class facilities. If you are reading this and contemplating going to the U.S.A to ski, contemplate no more! I have only been to one ski resort, sunday river in new England, so I can only speak from this one experience. But I have been to France and you can't compare the two. They are in different leagues, Sunday river has everything you'd ever need to have an enjoyable skiing holiday. The resort is luxury and there are loads of ski slopes for all levels. If you are into the more traditional skiing holiday the i would say go to france but if this is your first time or your looking for something different to the Alps the go to the USA. Considering skiing with young members of the family? Can't go far wrong with Smugglers. Smugglers Notch is a pretty small resort in Vermont. It's nearest airport is Burlington, NY which is about an hour's hop on an ickle plane from New Jersey/New York, which in turn is about 8 hours from London. Not too bad a journey for children. There are a few basic features any ski resort needs to be successful - snow (of course), lifts, food/entertainment and (important for us) good childrens facilities.
