St. AntonNewest Review: ... for intermediates and more advanced skiiers alike, with miles of reds and blacks. The high-speed lifts, including a state of the art gondola to galzig, allow you to gain height quickly (before rushing back down). There are some great, well established mogul gullies for the adventurous, as well as alternative blue and red routes from almost every lift. The powder hunters are advised to head to ... more |

For a 17 year old i think i have done a fair amount of skiing, i have skiied at least 1 week per year since I was 5, and have spent roughly 4 and a half months of my life on ski's, visiting 10 resorts it total, including France, Austria, Switzerland and Canada. However, the resort which sticks out most is St Anton, a beautiful resort, part of the Aarlberg ski area in the Tyrolean Alps. The resort is perfect for intermediates and more advanced skiiers alike, with miles of reds and blacks. The high-speed lifts, including a state of the art gondola to galzig, allow you to gain height quickly (before rushing back down). There are some great, well established mogul ... Having returned from St Anton yesterday, I desperately wanted to share my experiences with you. St Anton is a hip, vibrant, and beautifully Alpine village, where, both the young and old feel comfortable. The skiing is challenging, yet satisfying, though, not a place for beginners! I recommend beginners take the 40min bus ride to the nearby resort of Lech, for long wide open runs perfect for the less experienced skier. Haven't skied anywhere else since except when joining my mom during one of her skiing trips in the States. My mom actually came over to St. Anton during early March 2001 with a group of about 60 eldery folks from the States and for most it was a disappointing trip since the pistes were too narrow, too steep and not groomed, and there was too much (heavy) snow. I had however the time of my life (again!) since I do not ski on the piste but off-piste where I skied powder all ... Read the complete review

I organised a week of skiing/snowboarding in St Anton in January 2000. It was fantastic a real tonic from the French resorts we've been to in recent years. A beautiful ski village with picturesque streets. None of your high-rise monstrosities here. We stayed in the Edelweiss hotel, which had lovely rooms of a decent size. It also had a sauna and steam room (though the local custom of nudity in these proved a bit of a barrier to us reserved Brits!). The food ½ board was excellent though vegetarians once again had a bit of a struggle. The local hotel bar war comfortable and friendly though the proprietor could be a bit miserable. The skiing was ... Read the complete review
